The soundtrack album for Astro’s Playroom, the game I scored for Sony last year and which comes pre-installed on every PlayStation 5, is getting a digital release on Friday, 12th March, 2021 courtesy of Sony Music Masterworks :)
You can listen to it here.
If you’d like to learn a little bit more about what went into creating the music for Astro’s Playroom, here’s a post on the PlayStation Blog about writing the song, I’m Your GPU. It offers an unusually candid “behind-the-scenes” look into the music creation process and includes a bunch of excerpts from early sketches of the track. Slightly embarrassing, but pretty cool :D

Hello Kenneth! The soundtrack is amazing, a real tribute to the PlayStation fans, shows so much love. It was a pleasure turning on my first next-gen console, experimenting with the adaptive triggers, hearing the awesome sounds and feeling the nostolgia of Astro.
What else I would love, is being able to purchase this album. Is there any plans to release in another medium? I don’t have accounts (nor wish to support) iTunes or Amazon. Bonus points for FLAC, bit of an audiophile
Hey Kevin! Thank you for the kind words – much appreciated, and glad you enjoyed playing Astro’s Playroom :)
Sony own the music, so they are responsible for releasing it – apologies it isn’t available from your preferred retailer.
